SAIRAM MATRIC HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL commemorated International Poverty Eradication Day on October 17, 2025. As part of their commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG Goal No. 1: “NO Poverty,” the school students, along with the Scout & Guide troops, organized a donation drive.
The students collected and donated essential groceries and provisions to the Intellectually Disabled home located at Vandampalai, Thiruvarur. This initiative aimed to provide direct support to vulnerable members of the community.
In addition to the donation, the students actively participated in preparing a nutritious meal, which they then served to the residents of the home. This hands-on approach allowed the students to connect with the beneficiaries and understand the impact of their efforts firsthand. The activity served as a practical demonstration of compassion and social responsibility, reinforcing the importance of working towards a poverty-free world.
