International Women’s Day Celebration on 08-03-2025

Securing Prior Approval

We obtained prior approval from our principal to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025.

Planning and Discussion

During our discussions, we decided that the theme for Women’s Day should align with the awareness generated by our institution regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Preparations

  • We procured the materials required to set up the tent and conducted a trial run two days ahead.
  • We identified suitable locations to set up booths dedicated to the 17 SDGs.
  • We downloaded and showcased images of accomplished women by displaying them on trees across the school premises.
  • We sourced and displayed visual representations of the 17 SDGs.
  • We gathered resources to construct a model of a well.
  • We motivated students to design informative posters depicting the 17 SDGs.
  • We prepared banners highlighting the event’s theme.

Principal’s Contributions

Secured authorization from the head office to facilitate the Women’s Day celebration.

  • Procured appropriate gifts for participating women, students, teachers, and administrative staff.
  • Provided valuable guidance to the teachers on organizing the event and supported them throughout the process.

Student Participation

Students from grades 5 to 9 were tasked with explaining the 17 SDGs through creative short videos and interactive games developed using computers and mobile devices.

Events on March 8

  • The school campus was abuzz with activity from 8 AM onward.
  • Scouts and guides formally inaugurated the Women’s Day program.
  • To demonstrate Goal 13 – Climate Action, a palm tree was planted at the center of the playground.
  • To highlight Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, a well was constructed.

Women’s Delight

A live laughter therapy tent was set up where women were enlightened about the significance of Women’s Day and the importance of SDGs. This session, emphasizing Sai Ram’s commitment to promoting sustainable development, left the participants in high spirits.

SDG Demonstrations

Visitors explored each station where students provided detailed explanations of the SDG goals. Enthusiastic participation in interactive games further enriched the experience.

Students demonstrated Goal 9: “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure” and Goal 3: “Good Health and Well-being” by showcasing their entrepreneurial skills. They created and sold handmade crafts and nutritious snacks, fostering confidence and an understanding of growth and development. The proceeds generated were donated to orphanages, fostering a spirit of social responsibility.

Feedback and Reflections

At the end of the event, parents, after gaining insight into the various goals implemented by the students, shared their thoughts and posted them on a palm tree display, promoting a sense of environmental and social consciousness.

Memento Distribution Ceremony

During the concluding ceremony, all women participants, students, esteemed teachers, and administrative staff were honored with mementos by the Principal, Mrs.V. Latchoumy Ashok, and the Administrative Officer, Mr. Eswaran, bringing the celebration to a memorable close.
