Empowering Adolescent Girls: Health Awareness Program on Menstrual Hygiene and Anemia Prevention On July 11, 2025

On July 11, 2025, the Sairam district chapter of initiative for Guide students at SAIRAM Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

The program showcased expert perspectives from Dr. A. Lazha of Sairam Siddha Medical College, who delivered comprehensive elucidations on menstrual health, hygienic practices, and traditional therapeutic approaches. Dr. A. Nesa Kumar also contributed, delineating the etiologies, symptoms, and prophylaxis of anemia, a prevalent health concern among adolescent girls.

The session integrated interactive dialogues, visual presentations, and hands-on demonstrations to ensure the students grasped the significance of upholding optimal menstrual hygiene and averting anemia through appropriate nutrition and healthcare. For instance, Dr. Lazha demonstrated correct sanitary pad disposal techniques and underscored the necessity of frequent changes to forestall infections. Dr. Nesa Kumar furnished instances of easily accessible and economical iron-rich foods, such as verdant leafy vegetables, dates, and jaggery, to combat anemia. The initiative aspired to equip the students with the requisite knowledge and resources to proficiently manage their health and foster holistic well-being.
